Papa Francis performed a performance on St. Peter’s square in the Vatican after discharge from the hospital after five weeks of treatment.
The Pope briefly appeared on a stage in a wheelchair, with a breathing pipe under the nose.
“Hello everyone,” he said, waving cheering crowds. “Happy Sunday all of you, thank you very much.”
Pope, 88, was released from the hospital in Rome on March 23, and appeared in his window, and then he would offer a blessing.
The doctors said at the time that he would need at least two months of vacation in his residence. On Friday, Vatican said his health was improved and he is “in a good mood” while continuing his work activities.
The Pope was admitted to the hospital on 14. February for the infection resulting in double pneumonia. One of his doctors said he had two critical episodes during his treatment where his “life was in danger”.
From Friday, the Pope improved a little in breathing, moving, and saying, the Vatican said. Recent blood tests have also shown a light improvement in its lung infection.
The Pope requires less supplementary oxygen, but continues to receive it during the day. At night, he received a high oxygen flow through the nose as needed.
He suffered a series of health problems throughout his life, including part of one of his lungs removed in 21. years, making him more pronounced infections.
Papa Francis, who is from Argentina, was a folder for 12 years.
