Last year, acrobolis recorded 4.5 million visitors – an increase of more than 15 percent over the previous year – and the authorities forced the site to close during the previous heat waves as well.

The risk of fire is still a major concern. Civil protection officials have issued high -risk warnings to regions, including Greater Athens, Central Greece and Bilopuniz. The senior firefighters in the senior Constantine Tskakas said that the firefighting service in Greece is already treating up to 50 fires per day.
