Quito, Ecuador – Jackson Rodríguez Ecuadorian football player and a 5-year-old child were abducted on Wednesday, police reported when men broke into their home in search of researchers, who used to apologize under the bed.

The kidnappings took place for about 3 hours in the morning in the coastal city of Guayaquil, said Edison Rodríguez Police Chief.

In his testimony, the police, the 26-year-old Fullback said he hid under the bed when he heard the front door to break, towards the police chief.

The perpetrators took Rodriguez’s wife and child after asking a woman if Rodríguez was in the residence.

According to the police, Rodríguez saw in the window “that individuals traveled into a gray-colored dual cabin truck.”

The incident occurred in the middle of the state of urgency declared 10 days ago by the Government in nine territory countries, including the Province of Guayas, to which Guayaquil belongs. The measure allows the mobilization of security forces in these territories to fight the operations of organized crime, which the authorities are blaming for a wave of violence.

Uncertainty and crime covered Ecuador for four years, with an increase in the first few months of the year, according to the Government. Between January and March, 2,345 violent deaths were reported, 742 of whom happened in Guayaquil, 170 miles southwest of the capital, Quito.

The harbor city is considered one of the most dangerous areas in the country. From these ports, illegal documents are sent to Europe, Central America and the United States, according to the countries of government.

Other athletes are targeted in the past. In December, a football player Pedro Perlaza, who played for League de Quito, also kidnapped in Esmeraldas, the city of 182 kilometers northwest of Quito and saved the living few days later.
