Kim Jong Un encourages warm to officers and soldiers serving in the Russian Kursk region, according to government media reports.
The government media reported that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un praised his deployment to help Russia in its war against Ukraine during a meeting with the army’s external operation officers.
Kim said on Thursday that Kim “transferred warm encouragement” to officers and soldiers serving in the Russian Korsk region.
“We have a heroic army,” Kim was quoted as saying in a speech to the army personnel in the capital.
He added: “Our army is now doing what it should do and what to do. It will do so in the future as well.”
Russia and North Korea were adapting to increasing relations, as North Korea confirmed in April the first time that it had deployed a group of its soldiers to the line of confrontation to fight alongside the Russian forces.
Kim and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the Strategic Partnership Treaty in June last year, which includes the mutual defense agreement.
South Korean and Western intelligence agencies said that Pyongyang sent more than 10,000 soldiers to the Russian Kursk region in 2024, along with artillery, missile and long -range missile systems.
Seoul said about 600 North Korea soldiers were killed and wounded thousands of fighting for Russia.
Kim’s comments come as US President Donald Trump was pressuring to end the war of Russia, Ukraine, after he had high -level talks with the leaders of the two countries in recent days.
But Russian President Vladimir Putin, who last week of North Korean soldiers praised that he was “heroic”, so far, avoiding his Ukrainian counterpart Volodimir Zelinsky for talks.
