A day after Donald Trump threatened to formulate a new football stadium in the country’s capital if Washington’s leaders did not return to the name Redzkins, White House press secretary Caroline Levit said the president’s comments is not a joke.

“He was serious,” Levitte told reporters on Monday while answering the questions at the White House path. “Sports is one of the many emotions of this president and wants to see the name of this team changes.”

When asked about the reason for his participation, Levit Trump described as “unconventional president” and said that sports fans were behind him in this regard.

“I think you saw that the president was involved in many things that most presidents have not done,” Levitte said. “He is an unconventional president. He loves to see the results on behalf of the American people, and if you already take this issue with sports fans throughout the country, and even in this city, people actually support the president’s position on this and change the name.”

After Congress approved a bill in late last year to transfer lands from the federal government to the province of Colombia, the mayor of the capital, Morel Bousser, reached and the team reached an agreement in April to build on the old RFK stadium. This is still awaiting the approval of the Colombia Provincial Council.

A handful of fans who were asked by Associated Press for their opinion generally rejects Trump’s comments. Ander Tonkai, who grew up in the Washington region and returns to the family’s visit, launched “Trump’s typical stupidity.”

“He focuses on things that do not retreat and try to pay attention from the actual issues that occur,” Tonkai said, adding that he does not care about the name. “But I would like to get the new stadium, definitely. I love this site where it was. My parents used to tell me stories about the return of RFK when we were really good.”

Ford Feldins, who worked as a seller at the old RFK stadium, said that everyone is on the cart with the leaders of the name now after they won.

“I loved Washington when Washington was normal,” said Flemangs. “If they change their name, let it be. Washington will remain, whatever the Washington team.”
