Texas man convicted of mortal strangling and stabbing mothers more than 20 years ago was performed on Wednesday night.

Moises Mendoza, 41, who was sentenced to death for 20-year-old Rachelle O’Neil Tollesen, received a deadly injection in the Texas State penitentiary in Huntsville, with members of the victim and his own family.

Prosecutors said Mendoza kidnapped Tolleson from his home in northern Texas, leaving behind a six-month old daughter, who found undamaged Tolleson’s mother. Six days after the abduction, Tollesen’s body was discovered in the field near the stream.

Investigators said Mendoza tried to burn the body to destroy the evidence, including fingerprints. Identification has been confirmed through dental records.

Mendoza was recognized by the police soon after Tollesen’s body was discovered, speaking to investigators suffocating, sexually attacked, stabbed and tried to burn her body to conceal evidence. He was arrested after he talked to a friend about the crime, who then contacted the authorities.

The hours before the scheduled execution on Wednesday, the US Supreme Court rejected the final appeal of the mendosa lawyer to stop the execution.

The Defense claimed the court that Mendoza was denied the opportunity to seek the inefficient assistance of defense counsel during the earlier phases of his appeal.
