Officials say at least three police officers were killed in an explosion in a law enforcement training facility in East Los Angeles.

The explosion took place at about 07:30 local time (15:30 GMT) on Friday in the training of Skilose Academy in Los Angeles Province, according to emergency respondents.

The authorities say that the explosion occurred in the car park in the facility’s enforcement office. The American media reported, noting that the officers were dealing with unspeakable munitions that were recovered from the call to get rid of the last bombs when they exploded.

The exact cause of the explosion is still unclear, and officials have not yet confirmed whether there are additional injuries.

In a statement published in X, US Prosecutor Bam Bondi described the incident as “horrific” and said that federal agents had been published at the scene and “working to know more.”

The potential explosive bombs group usually picks up the region daily, but it is always dangerous because it is difficult to assess the stability and age of materials, according to the Los Angeles Times, referring to the sources of law enforcement.

According to what was reported, the direct area was evacuated around the scene.

The Ministry of Internal Security, Alcohol, tobacco office, firearms, explosives and the Los Angeles Police Administration assist in the investigation.

His office said in a statement on X.

The newsom office added that the state assistance has been provided to help respond to the accident.

Catherine Barger, head of the Los Angeles County Council, wrote in a statement that she was “closely tracking the situation and we are learning more about what happened and the status of the affected.”

She said: “My heart is heavy, and my thoughts with brave men and women in the Sharif section during this difficult time.”
