Iranian striker Inter Milan, Mahdi Tarmi, can miss the FIFA 2025 World Cup in the United States after his inability to leave his country to join his team amid closing of the airspace in Iran because of his continuous exchange of air fire with Israel.

Tarimi, who was called the Inter team, was expected to be associated with 32 teams, with his team in Los Angeles while preparing for the tournament, but media reports in Italy and the United States said on Saturday that the striker is likely to miss the first match on Tuesday and perhaps the entire competition.

“The Iranian striker will not join Narazzurri, neither for the first match nor for others,” the Italian newspaper La Gazzetta Dello Sport reported on Saturday.

The report added: “Inter has been in close contact with the Iranian authorities in Italy over the past 24 hours to calm the player and try (to find) an impossible solution currently. It seems that the player in Tehran is in a safe and protected place of bombings.”

The Italian team opens its campaign against the Mexican side, Monterrey FC, at the Rose Ball Stadium in Pasadina, Los Angeles, on Tuesday, but Tarimi is unlikely to be part of the team.

Iran’s 32 -year -old leaders were among the scorers who beat North Korea in their AFC World Cup match at Azadi Stadium in Tehran on June 10. One day, he won the Iranian Topa Award (Golden Ball).

Although it is unclear when the attacker was scheduled to leave Tehran, his departure to the United States was suspended when Israel began its attacks on Iran on Friday morning, which led to an unlimited closure of its air field.

Iran has responded to the attacks later in the same day, and both countries have participated in exchanging fire since then.

Tarimi, who joined Inter Milan in a three -year contract in July 2024, scored three goals in 43 games with Narazzurri.

Milan and their opponents were placed in the opening match of Monterrey in the Group E for the World Cup alongside the Argentine club River Play and the Japanese side Urawa Red Daimonds.
