US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet again on Tuesday afternoon to discuss Gaza, where Trump’s envoy in the Middle East said that Israel and that Hamas closed their differences in the ceasefire deal.
Trump and Netanyahu took together on Monday at the White House during the visit of the third Israeli leader to the United States since the president started his second term. Netanyahu met with Vice President JD Vance and then visited the American Capitol on Tuesday.
Netanyahu told reporters after a meeting with Republican Parliament Speaker Mike Johnson that although he did not believe that the Israeli campaign in the Palestinian enclave has ended, the negotiators “are certainly working” to a ceasefire.
Netanyahu said: “We still have to finish the mission in Gaza, and we release all of our hostages, and we will throw and destroy Hamas’s military and governmental capabilities.”
Shortly after Netanyahu spoke, Trump’s private envoy to the Middle East, Steve Whizov, said that the issues that prevent Israel and Hamas from the agreement have decreased to one of four, and he hoped to reach a temporary ceasefire agreement this week.
“We hope that we will have an agreement that will come to a 60 -day ceasefire, and by the end of this week, we will have an agreement that will lead to a 60 -day ceasefire,” Wittakov told reporters at Trump’s cabinet meeting.
