Green River, Wyo. – The third victim was found on Sunday in a wreckage from a firearms inside the tunnel of the highway, which included 26 cars and trucks, officials said.
At least five people were hardly injured in an accident on Friday, along the interstate 80 near the small town of Green River, Wyoming. The collision caused fire within the tunnel that completely destroyed six commercial vehicles and two passenger vehicles.
Most wrecks were removed on Sunday, with fewer than 10 vehicles still in the tunnel, Sgt said. Jason Roascio with Wyoming with a patrol highway.
But the snow slowed down the work of federal and state investigators while the vehicle went a vehicle trying to reconstruct the scene and determine what happened, he said.
“We hope this is a final fatality,” Roascio said.
Further details of three victims have yet to be released.
Photos distributed on Sunday showed carbon remains of two vehicles inside the tunnel.
The collision took place in a separate tunnel pipe under the Dvorce Rock, forming sandstone that encounters the city of Green River in the state southwest region.
Wreck and follow the fire closed an interstate, primary hallway in the east-west through Wyoming, and the turnover was redirected through the green river.
The East Tunnel was expected to open on Wednesday and handle traffic in both directions for now. Engineers could not evaluate when the westbound tunnel will reopen.
