Heart Alena, Idaho – Your birthday is one time of the year when it’s okay to be selfish. It’s all about you, and the kids relieved in that blessing as long as we had candles.
But for 9-year-old Grant Mullen of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, his last birthday party hit a different tone completely.
Last year, Grant Father Mark began volunteering to the SNR, a recreational center for people with special needs. Shortly after he started, he also received voluntary for volunteers.
“It’s so important that the kids get involved in a young age,” Mark said to CBS with news. “It really makes a huge difference.”
And when Mark asked Grant what he wanted for his birthday last September, he was pleasantly surprised by the answer.
“We asked him,” What would you like to do for your birthday? Who do you want to call? What do you want? “It just couldn’t be better than what he said,” Mark said. “The most perfect answer ever.”
Grant’s wish was to invite everything to SNR on your birthday party.
“Because they don’t invite birthdays,” Grant explained. “Sometimes people don’t get so much love. It’s sad.”
The SNR group took a bath with the Mullen family last week. Parents told the news of the CBS that a lot of their children were really not invited to a lot of birthday parties. But as they mixed, it became clear that the grant was not only kind when he sent those invitations. He sincerely wanted them here.
“They are more beautiful, kindergartens,” Grant said. “And don’t get angry all the time.”
That feeling was mutual.
“He is my best friend,” said Cade Johnson of Grant.

And with friends like these, who needs gifts.
