Ghanai President John Mahama suspended the Supreme Court in the country – a move that is first marked in the history of the country.

An investigation was launched, and three undiscovered applications were filed against Gertrude Torkornoo, referring to his permanent removal.

“It is the largest attack on the (judiciary) in the history of the nation, the largest attack on the independence of the judiciary under constitutional dispensations of this country.”

Ms. Torkornoo is Gan’s third boss of justice and was nominated in 2023. Former President Nana Akufo-Addo.

Its responsibility is to monitor the administration of justice in Ghana.

According to Reuters of the News Agency, Ms. Torkornoo survived the request for removal this year when the former President Akufo-Addo said that the Petition for rejection “several shortcomings”.

Copies of three recently submitted petitions against Ms. Torkornoo are not originally available.

But some lawyers claimed that the retention of documents were violating Ms. Torkornoo’s rights to a fair hearing.

Copies of petition are subsequently set available to the main justice, allowing her to respond to the allegations in private and in writing.

Ms. Torkornoo will invite the five-member committee to reply to petitions before the final decision is made to be removed from function or not.
