Real Madrid follows the ambitious reviews of the St. James Bernabéu Stadium – and this time it extends beyond the stadium walls. The City Council of Madrid has officially approving the 19.6 million euros to renew and beautify the areas of the iconic room, modernizing the city’s landscape and facing the worn and distance of the city building.

Bernabéu more modern neighborhood, greener

As described in the proposal, Real Madrid will finance the entire project independently – without the city’s subsidies. The plan will transform the surrounding streets, sidewalks and public spaces, many of which were damaged or dismissed in the process of renovation of the stadium. Objective: Creating a cleaner and cleaner environment to clean new Bernabéu.

Highlights include:

• The pedestrian area will spread significantly from 14,000 square meters to 40,500 square meters.
• Green areas will include more than 4,500 square meters.
• More than 300 new trees will be planted.
• There are renovations to storm water drainage systems and sewers.
• The project has new lighting, urban furniture, and are approximately 1,000 granite chairs and wood.

Streets in the focus

Some improvements are already visible. Rafael Salgado Street located in the north of the stadium, which has already had a wider sidewater sidewalks and increasing green spaces.
