BBC News, Kiev
Whether President Volodymyr Zelensky or was not sitting or should have been more diplomatic in oval office, was a catastrophic visit in Ukraine.
For those who look at Kiev, the future of their land hung in balance.
“It was an emotional conversation, but I understand our President,” says Yulia to me by the Kjeva Cathedral of Zlatno-bred in Sofia.
“Maybe it wasn’t diplomatic, but it was honest. It’s about life, we want to live.”
Yulia reflects political pattern in Ukraine: The more countries are attacked, the more unity exists.
Before full invasion 2022. year, the assessment of the trust of the president of Zelenia was 37%. After that, he rocketed at 90%.
Before Donald Trump returned to the office at the beginning of 2025. Year, he was 52%. After blaming Ukraine to start the war, he hit 65%.
“They (Donald Trump and JD Vance) were so rude,” says 30-year-old Andriy. “They don’t respect people in Ukraine.”
“Looks like Washington supports Russia!” Watches Dmytro, 26.
You wonder what the last 24 hours did the popularity of the president of Zellen.
“When the situation becomes worse, we have another rally around the flag,” Volodymyr PanioTo, director of the International Institute for Sociology Kyiv, who performed some polling stations.
The popularity of the world leaders is often decayed with time, and g. PanioTo says President Zelensky was not immune.
His assessments were especially struck in Ukraine unsuccessful contracents from 2023. years, and his edition a year later the popular commander of the main armed forces, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi.
But a new, transactional approach to Donald Trump, often hostile access to Ukraine forced the country to unite and violate for further uncertainty.
Not at least by heating in Russia.
‘We are punished for the attack’
The initial reaction was shock, “says the opposition MP Inna Sovsun.
“It was difficult to watch the president who was victimized by Russian aggression attacked by the free world leader,” she added. “It’s painful.”
Ukrainian TV channels reported yesterday’s scenes in the load: that the minerals contract between Ukraine and the US simply has not been signed.
Maybe it was not to include American security guarantees that Kyiv and Europe desperately want, was not such a tantalization for Zelensky as suggested.
“We need to find stronger allies in Europe and Canada, Australia and Japan, who all supported us,” Sovsun claims us.
There are clearly a deep sense of feeling between Washington and Kiev Kiev. However, Sovsun does not think that Ukraine needs to give up on the negotiation, but it should be reconciled instead.
“It’s important to find the right mediator,” she says. “Someone Trump can recognize, but someone we trust. Someone like Georgia Meloni from Italy.
“Under no circumstances, we would not agree to the call for the president to resign, and I say that as an opposition representative. That defies the very idea of democracy.”

President Zelensky hoped that his visit to Washington would lead to a deeper cooperation with the United States, which could, in turn, bring lasting peace. Something Sovsun thinks no one wants more than Ukrainians.
“We are the ones who suffer, it is extremely difficult to live under this stress,” she added. “I just read this morning that my friend’s son was killed, his second son in this war.”
What MP and countless Ukrainians do not want to be a bent settlement. Attempting to move with Russia in 2014. and 2015 was allowed only Moscow to prepare for his entire years of invasion.
“We knew it would be hard, it’s just not that hard.”

Ukrainian MP Ivanna Klympush-Tsyntsadze anticipated another Trump Presidency that is less nice for the cause of her country, but not to that extent.
“This mineral agreement does not oblige America to help us or compensate or resume support he presently he gives,” she says.
Although there is still a parliamentary unity behind the president of Zellenic and suspended elections, MPS such as Klympush-Tsyntad calls on more involvement in negotiations.
The chairman of her European solidarity is former President Petro Poroshenko, a fierce rival in Zelenia.
He even recently sanctioned the leader of Ukraine over what the Ukrainian security service marked as “threats to national security” and “creating obstacles for economic development”. Mr. Poroshenko said it was “politically motivated”.
Despite that, the former president said he recognized the legitimacy of Zelenic ID, for the fight against American and Russian claims on the contrary.
‘This is just an international noise’

As the sirens cry and rockets slam into cities, this is a war that is still raging, despite all conversations about it.
Russia does not support its requirements for the political capitulation of Ukraine and complete control of four regions.
“This war is not for an area, town or Treelin in the east,” says Taras Chmut, the head of the return foundation.
After Russia, he attacked Crimea in 2014. year, the organization was set on military equipment to combat Ukrainian troops.
“This is a war that will define the world order for future decades. Whether this world will continue to exist depends on how this war goes,” he says.
How recklessly followed by their first America’s first, Trump wants Europe to ensure safety on the continent where it is less willing to do so. But Europe is divided into this, and where there is an agreement, that peace is not possible without the USA as a security network.
“Europe and the world once again want to close their eyes and believe in a miracle, but miracles don’t happen,” says Mr. Chmut.
“Countries must accept the reality of the situation and do something about it. Otherwise you will be the one that will disappear next – after Ukraine.”
