Two ministers in the government of Prime Minister Mark Carne condemns the new arrest orders of Hong Kong police to 19 police activists abroad and offer rewards for information that lead to seizure.

The active officers accused the violation of the National Security Law imposed by Beijing.

“The measures taken by Hong Kong threaten the sovereignty of Canada and the security of the people in this country.”

“This attempt by the Hong Kong authorities to make a national repression abroad, including by issuing threats, intimidation or coercion against Canadians or Canada, will not be tolerated.”

On Friday, a statement by Hong King said that the group, called the Hong Kong Parliament, aims to enhance the self -determination and create a “constitution in Hong Kong”, claiming that it was using illegal means to overthrow and undermine the China’s main system or topple institutions in the city or China.

At the request of the police, the City Court issued arrest orders for activists Elmer Yuen, Johnny Fok, Tony Choi, Victor Ho, Keung Ka-Wai and 14 others.

They are allegedly organized or participated in elections abroad for the Hong Kong Parliament, in addition to creating or becoming members of the group.

While the group calls itself the Hong Kong Parliament, the Electoral Organization Committee was established in Toronto in 2022 and its impact is limited.

Anand and Anandasangari said that the people targeted by the Hong Kong authorities “are among the Canadians and people with close relationships with Canada.”

The ministers also said that Canada repeated previous calls to cancel the national security law and withdraw all related orders and bonuses.

The ministers say the bonuses were inflated online

Among the 19 activists, the police already offered a million dollars from Hong Kong ($ 174,580 from CDN) for information that leads to the arrest of Yuen, HO, FOK and Choi when separate activities orders were issued.
