Sadc troops to get out while m23 rebels get a ground floor star-news.press/wp

South African leaders announced that they would extract their troops from the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo in which they helped the Government fight against the rebels.
The troops were sent two years ago to support the Congolesco Army against M23 rebels, which seized the control over large parts of the enriched Eastern Dr. Kong-rich mineral this year.
At least 19 soldiers from South Africa, Malawi and Tanzania were killed when M23 caught the largest city of the region, Goma, in January.
Thousands of people were killed during the fight and hundreds of thousands left without shelters after they fleeing their homes.
There were concerns that struggles could escalate on a broader regional conflict.
M23 continued to gain land in Eastern Dr. Kong and last month took the second largest city of the region, Bukav.
The public and opposition in South Africa, it was difficult to criticize the public and the opposition after the killing of its soldiers.
Announcement of withdrawal, President of South Africa Cyril Ramafosa said that “the situation is insecure, but peace as is now holding”.
Sandile Swanda, a South African political analyst, told the BBC, it was a “embarrassing” situation for the country.
“The rebels are very strong. This is a lot of war and South Africa is hardly ready for any such war,” he said.
He added: “No country in the Sasg’s region is ready for this war – psychological, military and political.”
But the withdrawal is not just a wallet for South Africa, it is a blow and Dr. Congo, analysts say.
Stephanie Wolters, a senior research guy at the South African Institute for International Affairs, said the BBC that the Sadco withdrawal weakens the function of Kinshas.
“They (Sadc) went from to be in Kinshas’s side to be at the best case in a neutral position,” she said.
In February, President Malawi said his troops would withdraw from Dr. KongAlthough he did not give a reason.
The decision to begin “the phased withdrawal” from Dr. Kong was made during the 16-member Virtual Summit of the South African Development Community (Sadca) in Zimbabwe, Thursday, Thursday.
No reason gave.
SADC leaders said that although the troops would be withdrawn from Dr. Kong, the block would continue “to support the interventions aimed at bringing lasting peace.”
Sadc also called on a diplomatic and political solution for conflict.
Previous efforts to bring peace to Dr. Congo have not been successful.
But Angola announced this week that he will host peace talks between Dr. Kong and M23 next week in the capital, Luanda. M23 said they “greeted” this move.
President dr. Congo Félix Tshisekedi previously refused to join direct negotiations with a group, insisting on just a conversation with Rwanda.
This was the Sadc’s third emergency summit in Dr. Cong in recent months.
It is unclear how much the SADC troops in Dr. Cong, but 5,000 soldiers should be sent.
South Africa, leading the mission, was the implementation of 2,900 soldiers and the rest that is divided between Malawi and Tanzania.
