Air China’s loyalty partner has announced plans to integrate XRP payments. However, a strict coding ban in China means that the service will probably work outside the mainland.

The airline’s phoenixmiles program was set to expand payment options through a new partnership with the NASDAQ Webus International. This program serves more than 60 million members.

In the latest press releaseThe travel company’s Wetour platform said it will support XRP external services payments. This will include transporting the airport and driver reservations.

The plan represents one of the most prominent references so far to a state -owned Chinese institution to try payments associated with the encrypted currency.

However, the complete ban of Beijing on the encryption trade and payments makes it impossible for Air China to put XRP in the country.

It is worth noting that Air China is owned by the National Aviation Holding. It is a government institution under the supervision of the central government.

As such, the airline cannot accept digital assets legally such as XRP for local flights, tickets or loyalty transactions.

However, the announcement of the partnership was made very carefully. It determines that XRP integration applies to Wetour’s “External platform”.
