The two women were gang and man killed in attack near the popular UNESCO World Heritage In South India, the police states.
Two women – Israeli tourist and Indian domestic operator – were thinking of three male tourists near Lake in Hampi, Karnatak, when they attacked a group of men on Thursday night, said Police superiors Ram Arasiddi.
Arasiddi said the attackers pushed men in the Tungabhadar River Canal before the rape of women.
Two men, one of them American, survived, and the third man’s body was recovered on Saturday morning, he said.
“Five people – two women and three men – attacked near Sanapur,” Arasiddi said.
“Two of them are foreigners, an American (man), and the other woman from Israel.”
Police arrested two of the men accused of attacking and the investigation was ongoing, Arasiddi said.
Police believe that men followed the group.
According to the witnesses of one of the women, the group was a star near the temple in Sanapur when three men arrived on the motorcycle and asked them where they could get gas.
As one member of the group gave them instructions, one of the three men asked 100 rupees ($ 1.29) from tourists.
“Because the domestic operator didn’t know them, she told them they had no money,” police said.
“When men have insisted repeatedly, one of the male tourists gave them 20 rupees.
“After that, the three allegedly began to argue.”
The body of one of the male tourists was later found in the Tungabhadra channel in the Koppal neighborhood of the Karnatak.
The case was registered at the rural police station in Gangavathi under parts that relate to extortion, robbery, gang rape and attempted murder.
The victims receive medical treatment in the State Hospital, the police said.
Hampi, an ancient village in the southern Indian state of the Karnatak, is home to numerous ruins and temples from the Vijayanagar Empire. UNESCO was declared as a World Heritage in UNESCO 1986. years.
In the post on the X, the Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaih wrote: “The attack and rape of the Israeli citizen and the host owner is the most convenient rank.
“As soon as the incident reported, I received information from the relevant police, conducted a detailed investigation and instructed them to identify the culprits quickly.
“The police arrested two charged about the case and continuing the investigation.”
Attacks on women in India have acquired international attention last year after the brutal rape of the younger doctor in the hospital in the eastern city of Kolkata.
The attack initiated national piss and protests due to lack of security for women.
