The army announced in the country that the remains of the Israeli hostage, which spent nearly two years in captivity in the Gaza Strip, had been recovered on Friday.
The Israeli Defense Army said: “The body of Ilan Weiss, who was held hostage for 693 days in Gaza, was recovered in the Israeli Joint Defense Forces and the military operation of the Israeli Security Agency.”
“Ilan was from Kibbutz Perery and left his home on the morning of October 7 to join the emergency response team in Kibbutz. He was killed and kidnapped Hamas during the October 7 massacre,” he added. “His wife, Sherry, 54, and his 19 -year -old daughter Nougat, was transferred to Gaza and were released during the ceasefire deal in November 2023.”
The second Israeli body was also recovered on Friday and is now in the process of identifying it, according to Associated Press.

“It is a sweet moment and the Weiss family wins with their loved ones, although it does not return as they wanted,” AP Ruby, who believes that his son is still in captivity in Gaza, said.
Chen said that his family had received intelligence information that his son Etaye did not survive the October 7 attack, but Hamas had not provided any information about his son’s place.
“Ilan was a loyal man – modest, principled and a dedicated father for his daughters,” said the Israeli hostage forum and families’ families.
He added: “He liked to host the guests, tend to his garden, and enjoy beer. On weekends, he would have gone to ride mountain bicycles with his son -in -law, Jill Bouium, a Kibbutz’s emergency teammate who was also killed on this black Saturday.”

As of Friday, there are 48 remaining hostages in Gaza, 20 of whom are believed to be alive, according to Israel times.
The Israeli President, Isaac Herbi, wrote on X.
“Ilan showed the courage and noble spirit when the terrorists fought on that dark day. On his death, he gave life. Since then, his family has shown an extraordinary power in their struggle for his return,” he added.
