Rubio said Trump “understands that he attacks Putin, regardless of how someone can feel him, calling him to name in negotiations, when you don’t want to talk about it, you won’t go to that aggressive … you won’t persuade people.”
Rubio questioned Zelensky for peace, quoting suspicion in a permanent peace in a permanent peace with Putin, but criticized the lack of “any endgamen” in the Ukrainian plan. British television host and long-standing trump card Backer Piers Morgan wrote on x: “The only winner from today’s office of oval office is Vladimir Putin … and everyone who thinks that it is a good thing for the world of astonishing misconceptions.”
Former National Security Advisor John Bolton, a trump card of critics, wrote to X: “Trump put on the wrong side of Russia-Ukraine and is embarrassing. Every day it is increasingly difficult to pull the West together. Now we will have to convince our allies we are reliable and still the nations of normal people.”

Zelensky will go to the United Kingdom on Sunday for talks with the British Prime Minister Keir Starmermer as he seems to support other allys. The long-term consequences of the Trump exchange remain unclear.
