Three tropical cyclones are held in the South Pacific star-news.press/wp

Three tropical cyclones are spinning in the southern pacific, the phenomenon that scientists say is unusual.

Tropical cyclones RAE, sera and alfred that stops like the region in the peak season starting in November and ends in April.

Storms are called cyclones when they occur in southwestern pacific and hurricanes when they are formed in northern Atlantic, but are essentially the same phenomenon.

How unusual is this?

“It is not incredibly unusual to have three hurricanes at the same time in September in northern Atlantic,” Brian Tang, atmospheric professor at the science at the University of Albany. “It is certainly a very hard period for the South Pacific, and three tropical cyclones happen much, but not unprecedented.”

The last time three such storms took place in the southern Pacific, in 2021. when Lucas, Ana and the stage that was accurately failed, although it was not clear if the stage has officially reached the status of category 1, said Tang.

Where are these storms and have any damage?

RAE was formed on Friday north of Fiji and brought whispering winds and a strong rain that damaged fruit trees, according to local reports.

Alfred developed in the coral sea on Monday and floods are expected to introduce rainstorms to the northeastern Australian state of Queensland this weekend.

The serie became a cyclone on Tuesday and is expected to follow near the island of Nation Vanuatu, but they remain at sea.

What caused three cyclones at the same time?

Scientists say it is difficult to say, but every explanation begins with a high activity that is common at this time of the year.

Gabriel Vecchi, Climate scientist at Princeton university, noticed evidence that is called crazy-julian oscillation – fluctuations in the atmosphere that results in growing air and the raincoats and lasts 30 days or longer. He said he was looking to follow over the southwest pacific in a way that could improve cyclones.

“The atmosphere is chaotic. There is a lot of natural fluctuations in it … we must be open to the possibility of factors that are outside our ability to predict maybe under these three cyclers,” Vecchi said.
