Health officials say at least 10 Palestinians have starved to death in the besieged Gaza Strip, says health officials, as a wave of hunger on the pocket.

The latest death of hunger has brought the number of deaths from malnutrition since the Israel war began in October 2023 to 111, most of them in recent weeks.

The Ministry of Health in Gaza said on Wednesday that at least 100 other Palestinians, including 34 auxiliary students, have been killed in Israeli attacks over the past 24 hours.

The World Health Organization (WHO) said that 21 children under the age of five were among those who died due to malnutrition so far this year. He said he was not able to provide any food for approximately 80 days, between March and May, and that the resumption of food delivery operations was still much lower than what was required.

In a statement, 111 organizations, including Mercy Corps, the Norwegian Refugee Council and the international refugees, said that “collective hunger” is spreading even with tons of food, clean water and medical supplies sitting outside Gaza, where relief groups are prevented from accessing them.

“Hunger has become fatal like bombs. Families are no longer asking enough, they ask for anything,” said Tareq Abu Azoum from Al -Jazeera, who was reported by Deir al -Adl in the center of Gaza.

He said that the residents of Gaza described “a slow and painful death playing in real time, which is an engineering famine that the Israeli army organized.”

Israel cut all goods from entering the region in March, but allowed the assistance that begins in May, which was mostly distributed by the United States -backed Gaza Corporation (GHF).

The United Nations and relief groups that are trying to provide food to Gaza say Israel, which controls everything that comes inside and outside, is suffocation, while the Israeli forces have killed hundreds of Palestinians near the auxiliary distribution points since May.

“We have a lower set of requirements to be able to work inside Gaza,” said Ross Smith, emergency director of the United Nations International Food Program. “One of the most important things I want to emphasize is that we need not to have armed actors near our distribution points, near our convoys.”

Rick Biberkorn, representative of the World Health Organization for the occupied Palestinian territories, said that the repeated attacks on relief seekers transformed the few remaining hospitals in Gaza “into huge shock wings.”

Pearlkorn added that the scarcity of food is so extreme that people cannot do their job, including journalists, teachers and even their employees.

Nour Sharaf, an American doctor from the Shiva Hospital in Gaza City, also warned that people “have not eaten anything for several days and died from hunger.”

“The doctors sometimes do not get food, but they are still making their functions,” she said, adding that medical workers often work for long hours.

Two journalists were killed

Israeli strikes continued to inventory various parts of the pocket, including Gaza City, where the Israeli army said it was “intensification operations.”

The area has been in intense shelling in recent days.

The government media office in Gaza also announced the Israeli killing of Palestinian journalists, Tamer Al -Zaanin and Alaa Al -Jabari, which raised the number of media workers who have been killed in the pocket since October 2023 to 231.

The statement said that Al -Zaanin was photographed with various media organizations, while Al -Jabari worked as an editor in newspapers with many media outlets.

The White House said that the American Middle East envoy Steve Witkev is heading to Europe because of “very sensitive negotiations” on the ceasefire in Gaza and the release of the prisoner.

“He will meet with the main leaders from the Middle East to discuss the suggestion of the continuous ceasefire to end this conflict in Gaza and release the hostages,” White House spokeswoman Caroline Levit told reporters.

The talks on a 60 -day ceasefire proposal between Israel and Hamas, which will include the launch of more fifty prisoners who are still detained in Gaza, are mediated by Qatar and Egypt, with the support of Washington.

A Palestinian official, near the ceasefire talks in Gaza, said that the mediation efforts said that Hamas had surrendered to the suggestion of the ceasefire on the mediators, and refused to clarify more.

There have been no progress in negotiations, any progress since Israel broke the ceasefire in March.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog told the soldiers during a visit to Gaza that “extensive negotiations” on the return of the prisoners who were held there and that he was hoping to “hear good news” soon, according to a statement.

A senior Palestinian official said earlier that Hamas may give brokers in response to the latest proposals in Doha later on Wednesday, provided that the amendments are made to two main points: details of the Israeli military withdrawal and how to distribute aid during the armistice.
