NOORAD fighter planes display with the width of power near the Russian border star-news.press/wp

Gates, the American fighter and the Canadian fighting for the North America Air Defense Command (North America), has a exercise on Alaska, near the Russian border.

The exercises were conducted on July 10 near the small Destidi island in Alaska, located in the Pering Strait between the main mainland Alaska and the Russian Al -Aqsa East. The remote island is 2.4 miles from the large island of Destidy in Russia, which is located on the other side of the international history line.

Newsweek I called the Russian Ministry of Defense to comment via email.

Why do it matter

Formed by the United States and Canada, NORAD provides space warning, controlling flying, and maritime warning to defend North America – including discovering and warning attacks against the continent, whether by planes, missiles or spacecraft.

The Russian army – along with the Chinese army – by planes near the United States and Canadian sovereign airspace, has sent the air defense identity areas for both countries. These areas cover the international airspace and require the identification of aircraft.

NORAD regularly is training to prepare for intercepting foreign military aircraft. In early March, the fighting aircraft and American bombers carried out a fake objection to Alaska, offering their ability to defend the continent within a moment.

According to the photos released on July 16 by the NORAD region of Alaska and the leadership of Alaska, the United States fled F-16 and CF-18 Jets Jets in a formation near Diomed Little Island earlier this month during the “Power Integration” exercise in Alaska.

The NORAD region of Alaska is one of three areas established under the bilateral leadership, along with the Canadian NORAD region and the American continental Norm, which is divided into the Western and Eastern air defense sectors.

In addition to the small Diyomidi Island, Norm Fighter Jets conducted ADAK training in the Aleutian Islands. In the summer of 2023, the US military intercepted 11 Russian and Chinese marine vessels near the Alaska Island Series, which extends to the Bering Sea.

“The aircraft from the United States and Canada conducted a training on Alaska, which indicates the flexibility of NORAD and the bilateral ability to integrate operations across the regions to ensure the defense of North America in the upper north,” according to the suspension of the photos.

F-16 fighter planes were launched from the Endendorf-Richardson joint base in Alaska, while the CF-18 combat aircraft was deployed from the Bagotville Canadian base in Quebec-after 4349 miles from Alaska, according to the Royal Canadian Air Force.

The exercise also included the US Fuel plane KC-135 and an air warning and monitoring E-3. The former extends the range of flying from combat aircraft, while the latter provides the management of battle, monitoring, targeted detection and tracking.

What people say

He said the mission statement on Nadad website: “With close cooperation with defense, security and law enforcement partners, the prevention of air attacks against North America, the protection of the sovereign air positions of the United States and Canada by responding to unknown and unwanted air activities, approaching and operating them within these air positions, and providing a warning to air and marine bets.”

The Royal Canadian Air Force said at a Facebook post on July 16: “Canadian and American forces worked on the shoulder to integrate our forces, exercise operational measures, and show our ability to defend both countries in the Arctic through the Norara partnership.”

What happens after that

NORAD exercise comes at a time when the United States is pushing to create a missile defense system for the golden dome to protect North America. It remains to see whether Russia and China will perform another joint air and sea operation near Alaska later this year.
