British AI startup literal labs secure 5.4 million dollars to create custom AI models

Newcastle Literal labA logic-based AI algorithm agency, today has announced a € 5.4 million pre-mart of funds to extend its engineering team and bring its first commercial product to market after 2025.

This round is run by Northern Grittone, the science and technology-centered investment agency of Northern England, and is operated by London-based funds Marsuri, with companies focusing on the media, entertainment and technology sector companies, Cambridge Future Tech SPV and several Angel investors.

Noel HarleyLiterally Labs CEO says: “We are at an important moment for AI by continuing to accelerate as well as accelerated as well as expenditure anxiety. Our logic-based AI provides a new solution for them that high-performing AI wants and is currently available through neural networks that are currently faster, more efficient and more explanible than that. This fund comes at a time when we are ready to speed up our product development significantly and will enable us to market our first product later this year.

Established in 2021, literal labs are an AI algorithm company that uses logic-based techniques to create custom AI models, which have proven to be faster than benchmarking studies neural networks.

Its models are for companies that want to replace GPU-she-heavy algorithms that are very large, expensive and energy-intensive, that companies are operated in strict social or regulatory markets where AI’s explanation is essential, or more efficient AI models for battery-based products are needed for companies.

The company spread from Newcastle University to Logic-based AI, Dr. Alex Yakovlev and Dr. Ish Shed Shafiq along with company maker Cambridge Future Tech. Noel Harley was later appointed as the CEO of the Labs Labs in 2021, where he led the CPU department in addition to its product marketing – where about $ 176 million, which was about $ 176 million.

Duncan JohnsonNorthern Gritstone’s CEO says: “The literal labs are northern Grittone’s first investment associated with Newcastle University, it is famous for technology research. We are delighted to support Noel Harley and literally Labs team at that point when innovation can truly benefit from the greater skills of AI.

Literal labs are inventing logic-based AI models that are reported to be faster than today’s neural networks, more energy efficient and more explanible. Its method is inspired by the work of Mikhail Tissetlin; John McCarthy is a mathematician and contemporary who was the pioneer of the neural network.

Like neural networks, the tissetlin machine can do complex machine learning training. However, contrary to neural networks, it is based on the proposed logic that makes it more efficient in calculating and energy use, although increasing the speed of infernsing.

The latest MLPRF Anomal Identification Benchmarking shows literal labs can achieve 54x faster infernsing than ‘classic techniques’ for machine learning apps with 52x lower power consumption than equivalent neural networks. It has earned 250x faster performance than XGboot for machine learning applications.

Asher isMarcuri partner says: “We are literally interested in backing labs because it defines AI with radical skilled alternatives for existing neural networks. This group is unique for the commercialization of this innovation in combination with deep research skills and proven industrial leadership.

The literal labs doubled their headcount in 2024 to 12 to 12, Leon Fedden – formerly the AI Deep Learning Platform to Astrogenca – including appointment as Chief Technology Officer. Fund’s fresh injection will be used to extend its engineering team and to bring its first commercial product to market for customers with Adjii in 2025:

  • Replace the GPU-she-shelter algorithms that are very large, expensive, or energy-intensive
  • Manage the rigid social or regulatory markets, in which AI’s interpretation is essential
  • There are more skilled AI models for battery -based products
