At least 44 people died after the roof crashed in the nightclub in the Dominican Republic.

More than 150 people injured and rescue workers continue efforts to freedom of people from ruins.

It is not yet clear that the incident caused, which occurred in the early hours on Tuesday during the concert of the popular Mengue singer Runby Pérez, on the jet disco in the capital, Santo Domingo.

Jet Set is a popular nightclub in Santo Domingo who regularly hosts the beginning of dance music on Monday.

Videos seemingly taken in the club show that people sit on the tables in front of the stage and some dance on the music in the back, while Rubby Pérez sings.

In a separate recording of the mobile phone divided on social media, a man standing next to the stage says “something fell from the ceiling,” as his finger can be seen on the roof.

In the shot, it looks like a singer Rubby Pérez, he also looks at the area he pointed out.

Less than 30 seconds later, noise can be heard and recording is black until a woman hears shouting “Dad, what happened to you?”.

One of the members of the band Runbby Pérez told the local media that the club was full when the collapse happened “around 1 in the morning.”

“I thought it was an earthquake,” the musician said.

Daughter Rubby Péreza said her father was among those trapped in the fragment.

Speaking with the newspaper Diario Libre, Pérez Fernando Soto said that the singer was found alive, but he did not know if he was transferred to the hospital.

Former Main League Baseball Star Octavio Dotel, 51, is understood that she was inside the nightclub when the roof crashed. He was extracted from the ruins, according to local media reports, but his condition and where it is unclear.

The President of the Dominican Republic Luis Abinader expressed condolences to families affected.
